O'Grady has the father of Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as financial advisor. Her family raised her by their parents who resided in Wheaton in Illinois and then graduated in 1981 with a diploma from Wheaton-North High School. She appeared in a few commercials before moving to Los Angeles in 1986. Her first job was an Montgomery Ward model, where she also made several commercials.
